Located in the historic coastal community of Broughty Ferry in Dundee, Scotland, Dragon Spirit Martial Arts brings fresh energy, deep dedication, and a powerful personal story to the UMKS organization.

Meet BSBN Daniel Menzies — A Leader Built Through Perseverance
BSBN Daniel has been immersed in martial arts for 16 years, beginning his journey as a young student and continuing his training through every chapter of his life—including the incredible challenge of undergoing chemotherapy. His consistency and resilience reflect exactly what martial arts is about: perseverance, discipline, and the strength of the human spirit.
“I've trained for 16 years – through school, getting my degree, and even during chemotherapy – and staying committed through all that is something I'm proud of.”
His story is not only inspiring for students—it’s a testament to the power of martial arts practice as a lifelong anchor.
Why Dragon Spirit Martial Arts Was Born
For more than eight years, Daniel played a key role in helping teach classes. It didn’t take long for him to discover that instructing and mentoring others brought him as much fulfillment as training itself. Opening his own dojang became the natural next step.
“I've been helping teach for over 8 years, and I realised pretty quickly how much I enjoyed doing this. Opening my own club felt like the next step in my progression as an instructor and martial artist.”
Dragon Spirit Martial Arts stands as a reflection of Daniel’s passion for teaching and his desire to build a positive, student-centered training environment in Dundee.
What Excites Him Most About Joining UMKS
Daniel is eager to bring his students into the larger UMKS community—one that celebrates skill, culture, and connection across borders.
“I’m excited to be part of a community of talented martial artists, and to give my students access to amazing events like tournaments and seminars.”
His school will now participate in UMKS seminars, testing opportunities, leadership training, and international tournaments, giving students unforgettable experiences and a true martial arts family.
