At the heart of the UMKS Scottish Championship 2024, held on August 30th and 31st in Edinburgh, a select group of martial artists emerged victorious, earning the esteemed title of Mirae Champion. This honor is awarded to competitors who demonstrate exceptional skill, dedication, and mastery across specific disciplines within the United Mirae Kuk Sool (UMKS) system.
To become a Mirae Champion, black belt competitors faced off in three challenging events: Bae Ki Hyung (the UMKS sword form), Bong 2 (the UMKS staff form), and Self-Defense. Each competitor had to bring their best to the mat, showcasing their ability to execute precise techniques, exhibit control and power, and apply their knowledge effectively in self-defense scenarios.
The competition was fierce, with each participant striving to earn points across these three categories. As with the Grand Champion title, points were awarded based on placement: 1st place earned 5 points, 2nd place earned 4 points, 3rd place earned 3 points, and 4th place earned 1 point. The competitor with the highest total points in each category was crowned Mirae Champion and received a large, beautiful medal presented in a special souvenir box – a true symbol of their achievement and dedication.
We are proud to announce and celebrate the following winners of the Mirae Champion title:
Jo Kyo Nim Cameron Garmany – 1st Dahn, Ages 9-12 Years
