The UMKS Scottish Championship 2024 featured a range of exciting events, but one of the most highly anticipated competitions was the Mirae Ki Cho Hyung Champion event. Open to all competitors, regardless of age or rank, this event showcased the incredible talent, dedication, and diversity of the martial artists within our UMKS community.
Competitors participated across multiple categories, including All Rank 6-8 Years, Junior Black Belt, Junior Colored Belt, Youth Black Belt, Adult & Youth Colored Belt, and Adult Black Belt. Each participant brought their own unique style and skill to the mat, performing the foundational form, Mirae Ki Cho Hyung, parts 1-8, with precision and determination.
The event was judged by three esteemed panel members: GGKJN John Edmiston, GGKJN Justin Bunn, and SBN Richard Steel, who carefully evaluated each performance based on technical execution, power, rhythm, and overall presentation. The first-place winners in each category earned the opportunity to return as finalists for a special evening round, where they competed in front of the UMKS Founder, CSJKJN Sungjin Su.
The evening finals were a thrilling spectacle, with the top performers from each category bringing their very best to the mat, each aiming to claim the title of Mirae Ki Cho Hyung Champion. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the finalists demonstrated their mastery of Mirae Ki Cho Hyung before the Founder himself.
The talented finalists included:
Dahn Bo Nim Jack Wardle
Dahn Bo Nim Craig Swanepoel
Jo Kyo Nim Mia Edmiston
Jo Kyo Nim Mark Roberts
Bu Sa Bum Nim Claire Beveridge
Each of these martial artists showcased incredible skill and grace, earning their place among the best. However, there could be only one Mirae Ki Cho Hyung Champion. After an intense final round, the title was awarded to Jo Kyo Nim Mark Roberts. His exceptional performance, precision, and unwavering focus set him apart and earned him this distinguished honor.
We extend our congratulations to Jo Kyo Nim Mark Roberts for his outstanding achievement and to all the finalists who demonstrated the true spirit of martial arts. Your hard work, passion, and dedication are an inspiration to all.
